Fans expect a certain level of content and polish from a Pokemon game, and that is not what the community received from Sword and Shield.īefore the announcement of that thirty dollar DLC, however, came a much better received, much more joyful announcement. The game offered little to no challenge, especially for longtime fans of the series, and offered the most annoying hand-holding present in a Nintendo game yet.įans remain extremely divided on Sword and Shield, with the announcement of a thirty dollar DLC and a new paid service (Especially the fact that it is the only way to get most fan favorite Pokemon that will not be making their way to Sword and Shield) not helping. More then half of the national Pokedex was cut in favor of developing better animations for the Pokemon that made the cut, and those new animations are few and far between. Rushed production led to a game with problems in everything from the graphical department to story. Nintendo’s most recent mistake came in the form of Pokemon Sword and Shield. Nintendo is one of the best publishers when it come to properly assessing their mistakes and learning from them, typically utilizing the lessons they learn within only a few years to give fans what they want.

Nintendo does some of their best work when they are bouncing back from a flop or mistake: the Wii U led to the Switch, Skyward Sword ( The Legend of Zelda‘s most divisive title) led to Breath of the Wild, Mario Sunshine led to Mario Galaxy, and Metroid: Other M was swiftly followed by Samus Returns.
